Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751–1843) a French sculptor, was the most prominent bronzier, or producer of ornamental patinated and gilt-bronze objects and furniture mounts of the First French Empire. This particular piece was made by Thomire in 1815. This is being sold as found, with wear comensurate with age. This piece is signed by Thomire a Paris. It was brought back from France by the original owners family.
